Schneider Electric Lexium Cobot collaborative robots in Ukraine

Lexium Cobot is Schneider Electric's line of collaborative robots that work next to an operator without safety fencing once a risk assessment is complete. The cobot is taught by hand-guiding, and the program is built graphically, drag-and-drop, in EcoStruxure Cobot Expert from an Android or Windows tablet. The Chastotnik.ua catalog carries five arm models: 3, 5, 7, 12 and 18 kg payload, 626 to 1328 mm reach, six axes, IP54.

Every arm runs only with a Lexium Cobot controller: LXMRL03C1000 for the 3 kg model, LXMRL07C1000 for 5 and 7 kg, LXMRL12C1000 for 12 and 18 kg. The controllers are in the catalog too, and each robot page shows its compatible controller in the Accessories block.

What the controller provides

The Lexium Cobot cabinet controller runs off 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz mains and feeds the arm 48 V DC. It carries 16 digital inputs, 16 digital outputs and two configurable analog channels on 24 V logic, normally enough to integrate a conveyor, gripper and safety signals without an extra I/O module. Supported protocols are TCP/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, EtherNet/IP and PROFINET, so the cobot connects to an existing Modicon PLC or a third-party controller out of the box. The enclosure is 410×308×235 mm, IP44.

Where Lexium Cobot is used

Typical jobs are machine tending, palletizing small containers, assembly and screwdriving, packaging, dispensing, and vision-based quality inspection. The 3 and 5 kg models usually go to benchtop work and CNC loading, 7 and 12 kg to transfer and palletizing, 18 kg to heavier cycles where tool flange speed up to 3.5 m/s matters. Mounting position is not fixed: the arm can sit on a table, a wall or a ceiling.

Safety and pricing

Collaborative operation does not remove the mandatory application-level risk assessment per ISO 12100 and ISO/TS 15066: the cobot itself has built-in safety functions, but permissible speed and force depend on the gripper, the part and the geometry of the work cell. A gripper that cuts or has sharp edges almost always requires additional measures.

Does Lexium Cobot need a separate controller?

Yes. The arm does not run standalone: LXMRL03S0000 requires the LXMRL03C1000 controller, the 5 and 7 kg models require LXMRL07C1000, and the 12 and 18 kg models require LXMRL12C1000. This is Schneider Electric's official compatibility table. Budget for the arm plus controller as a pair from the start.

Which model has the longest reach?

LXMRL12S0000 at 12 kg, with 1328 mm reach. This is counterintuitive: the larger 18 kg model reaches 1073 mm, which is shorter. So choose by the actual geometry of your work cell rather than by payload: first confirm the cobot reaches every point, then check the part weight together with the gripper.

Can a cobot run without fencing?

Collaborative operation allows it, but only after an application-level risk assessment per ISO 12100 and ISO/TS 15066. What is assessed is the whole cell, not the robot alone: gripper, part, speed, geometry. A sharp or cutting tool, a heavy part, or a pinch point between the robot and surrounding structure almost always calls for additional measures, up to fencing or a scanner.

How is Lexium Cobot programmed?

Through EcoStruxure Cobot Expert on an Android or Windows tablet. Paths are taught by hand-guiding the arm, and logic is assembled graphically with drag-and-drop blocks, with no conventional text code. An operator with machine-tool experience is typically trained in a few days.

Which PLC can the cobot connect to?

The controller supports TCP/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, EtherNet/IP and PROFINET, so it works out of the box with Schneider Electric Modicon PLCs and with third-party controllers. What gripper weight should I account for?

The payload in the specification is the total load on the tool flange, meaning gripper plus part plus cables and tooling. A two-finger electric gripper typically weighs 1-1.5 kg, and a vacuum gripper with an ejector can be heavier. For a 5 kg part, specify the 7 kg arm, otherwise running at the limit costs you speed and service life.
